Sony has revealed its financial results for Q1 of its financial year 2024 (April 1 – June 30). The company revealed the PlayStation 5 has now sold 61 million units worldwide with only selling 2.4 million PS5 consoles in the latest quarter.

Year-over-year sales of the PlayStation 5 have decreased compared to the same three-month period last year, with the console selling 3.3 million units during that time.

Sony also announced that software unit sales decreased year-over-year, with 53.6 million units sold in Q1 2024 compared to 565 million units during the same period in 2023.

Sony Interactive Entertainment did make it known that it was going to be a quiet year for PlayStation as far as releasing large AAA titles. This year they have Astro Bot releasing September 6 and Concord releasing later this month.

It has been reported that a PS5 Pro will be announced and released in the coming months, but Sony has not come forward with the announcement yet.
