Although no one on PC is complaining about the growing flow of first-party PlayStation titles on PC, the larger concern is about PlayStation Network integration. Since the launch of Helldivers 2 nearly a year ago, Sony’s enforcement to sign-in for its titles did remain overbearing. Enough that the firm ultimately pulled the action for the game.
But, that would still be in place for other PlayStation titles instead. With other releases including God of War: Raganrok, Until Dawn, and the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it was path that the PlayStation firm was not asking for permission. Even in a financial Q&A, representatives disclosed that there is no plans to cease on PlayStation Network requirements on PC.
Now firmly set into 2025, Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed that the PlayStation Network requirements on PC will now be an option for users. To incentivize connecting the PlayStation Network, the PlayStation firm has shared that there will be unique in-game items available exclusively through linking your account on PC.
“Starting with tomorrow’s release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC, we’re working to add more benefits to playing with an account for PlayStation Network. The Last of Us Part II Remastered (coming April 3, 2025), in addition to God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, will all soon be adding in-game content unlocks for PlayStation Network account users,” senior vice president of Studio Business Group & Head of Publishing Asad Qizilbash says.
“An account for PlayStation Network will become optional for these titles on PC. Players who still opt to sign into a PlayStation Network account will also enjoy added benefits like trophies and friend management. […] Game creators at PlayStation Studios will continue to work on bringing more benefits to players who sign up for a PlayStation Network account, so be sure to follow studio channels for more information.”
