PlayStation Premium Live-Service Pricing Sticks To $40 With Helldivers 2 And Now Concord

For PlayStation, its newest push is for live-service content. And so far it has been a success with the early 2024 release for Helldivers 2. As of writing, the Arrowhead Game Studios sequel has sold more than 12 million units. Of course, this is considering the release for both PlayStation 5 as well as PC. And this trend is to continue moving forward.

Recently, the next effort from Sony Interactive Entertainment was showcased. Firewalk Studios unveiled Concord – a new hero-based, live-service shooter set to release later this August. First-impressions for the game online appear to be mixed with some excited for the new release whilst other consider it too familiar to others in the same genre.

What is new for the game is learning the pricing. On Thursday, Sony Interactive Entertainment launched pre-orders for Concord. It is revealed that the game is to cost $39.99 – the same asking price of Helldivers 2. So while a live-service release, it is not free-to-play as many would gather. Especially when titles like Paladins as well as Overwatch 2 more recently are both free-to-play.

“When it launches in August, Concord will debut in a standard edition (available in both physical and digital versions for $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 / ¥4,480 MSRP) that provides the full Concord experience, including all 16 playable Freegunners, 12 unique maps set on various worlds, and six distinct team-based game modes, which will expand shortly after launch with regular, post-launch updates for all players at no additional cost.”

What’s more, there is a Digital Deluxe Edition of Concord that grants early-access to the full game. Proving a 72-hour entry to the game for $59.99. Pre-orders do include a stake in the coming closed beta for Concord. It is also confirmed that Concord will require sign-in for a PlayStation Network account.

Recently, this has been a trend for more games on PC. Although Helldivers 2 managed to undo the damage, Concord is making it a necessity this time around. And, both God of War Ragnarok & Until Dawn as well ask for the sign-in. You can read the full report by heading here.
