This past fall, the Nintendo Switch brought unto its wing one of the fastest-selling releases to date for the platform – that being Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet. Following the game’s release, it was in a short amount of time that the duo release was met with a whopping 10 million copies within just three days. But, it does not end there.
According to a separate financial reporting issued by Nintendo earlier in February, it was revealed that the latest Pokémon titles are now recorded at about 20 million sold units. Looking ahead, a new Pokémon Direct was scheduled for Monday, February 27th. Insiders claimed a new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon could be announced at the show.
Instead, The Pokémon Company revealed Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet will be receiving a new two-part expansion coming in the latter half of 2023. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero for Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet is coming! You’ll be able to adventure for even longer and delve even deeper into the world of Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet with this paid additional content,” the description for the video on YouTube reads.
“The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero includes a New Uniform Set, made up of new apparel items that you can use at once in your Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game, and two DLC expansions. These are Part 1: The Teal Mask and Part 2: The Indigo Disk. While this tale is split into two parts, they link together to tell a connected story.”
