Over the past decade, Valve titles remained to be a staple on PC through its in-house built Steam storefront. However, it was not too long ago during the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 era that the firm was at the forefront of console releases. Entries like Left 4 Dead & Portal were titles to pick up on gaming platforms ahead of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive & DOTA 2 both overtaking the reigns for keyboard & mouse players later on.
Howbeit, that notion is said to shift moving forward according to founder Gabe Newell himself. When speaking during an event at a school in New Zealand, Newell admitted that console will once again be a focus for releases. “You will- get a better idea of that by the end of this year,” he commented on a question on the matter.
From the recent Nintendo Direct, Portal: Companion Collection including the first two games were revealed and is heading to Nintendo Switch later this year. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“Including Portal and Portal 2, the Companion Collection comes to Nintendo Switch™ with all the groundbreaking gameplay, dark humor, and exploration that earned the series hundreds of awards,” the description for the game reads on its page from the Nintendo eShop.
In terms of Valve and its strive for portable gaming elsewhere, the firm has announced that the first shipment of Steam Decks are set to arrive later on in February for those that managed to get a spot for pre-ordering. You can read the full report by heading here.
