Upon the connotation for how the PC platform is oriented based on its most prominent titles, Valve is the ideal developer to look towards. With releases like Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and DOTA 2, the studio is oozing with platform-defining releases. Not to mention the storefront founded by the game studio, Steam. However, it appears that the storefront could be bridging with console to some extent.
Previously, it was suspected that perhaps the welcoming support for EA Access (EA Play) might be the answer to that, but, nothing materialized from that. Howbeit, a new rumor appears to be more tangible to suggest a larger impression. In that, insider Tyler McVicker commented that Xbox Game Pass is being pursued to arrive to the platform soon.
But before there is any evidence to determine the claim to be true, Valve founder Gabe Newell comments that there will be enough to understand on the developer’s games on console by the end of the calendar year. Newell made the statement during an event at a school in New Zealand.
Q: Will Steam be putting any games on consoles, or will it just say on PC?
Newell: You will- get a better idea of that by the end of this year.
But, further context on what Newell is referencing to is not provided following his statement. Despite the energetic response from the Valve boss, there is no information to dissect where to directly look upon the matter. Previously, Newell when speaking to 1 News did disclose that Valve is working on new games, so perhaps that is to be in extension to the recent statement.
One realistic suggestion is for a PlayStation VR version for Half-Life: Alyx. While the firm has only released the game for PC-oriented virtual reality hardware, the developer stated not to rule out the possibility entirely. You can read the full report by heading here.
