No matter where the players that experienced Fallout started if it being the first entry, the titles tapping into first-person, or the latest installments, those that fell in love with the universe at one point imagined the series tackling entertainment. And while hope continued to swell for more than a decade on this, it wasn’t until July 2020 that Amazon announced a Prime Video TV show is in the works.
Even more, Kilter Films most known for West World will be helming this new production. This past January, it was reported the TV show would commence filming as showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner (Silicon Valley) enter. Additionally, Walton Goggins (Django Unchained) was said to be attached to star in the series with his role as a ghoul revealed.
This past week, Prime Video in celebration of Fallout’s 25th Anniversary celebrated the event to reveal the first image from the upcoming TV show. The image from the series depicts the opening of an unnumbered vault pointing to the wasteland as the light bleeds through the doorway.
Not only that, but Bethesda also featured a brief video with director Jonathan Nolan speaking on the franchise. “Fallout! Fallout, yes. The post-apocalyptic, humorous, dark, bleak, brilliantly written, annoyingly playable video game franchise.” When asked how he got involved with the game, he went on to share: “Well, several years ago, I decided I was going to write the next great American novel.
“And then a friend gave me a copy of Fallout 3. And now I’m working in television.” Humor aside, obviously Nolan is a big fan of the series as he takes a bottle of Nuka Cola from someone in power armor right before the conversation. It’s for certain that the show is still in production, but, details on when fans can expect the first episode or even a trailer has not been disclosed.
