Dating back to E3 of 2015, developer Yager Development revealed the exciting follow-up Dead Island 2. Despite the expected release to happen in just a few short years or possibly even sooner, the title has still yet to release despite the reception of the inaugural entry for the series. While Polish studio Techland who initially started the brand went on to release Dying Light that same year, Dead Island 2 has been juggled between different teams leading to the verge of next-generation hardware.
It was reported back in August that after being in the hands of Sumo Digital for more than a year, the property officially was shifted over to the jurisdiction of Dambuster Studios. The news came as a surprise since many went to believe that the game would never see the light of day just four years after the first announcement of the game. Publisher Deep Silver has reassured that fans can expect to learn more on the sequel previously, but no information has been released since.
But for players still antsy for the follow-up, there’s no need to worry as a new job listing has surfaced at Dambuster Studios which reaffirms the game is still in development. The developer is in search for a candidate to take the position as an Art Director to assist to “bring the dead to life,” the listing tells.
And so we need you to lead our art team as they create the sun soaked backdrop to a full scale zombie apocalypse set across the iconic Californian city for the next instalment in the world renowned Dead Island franchise.
In the ranks of requirements, the job listing urges that the applicant at least have prior experience with releasing one AAA project under the respected art-centered lead position and the desire to communicate to better development for both themselves and their peers. Alongside what is asked, likely recipients for the position can also expect benefits like a well-suited salary and access to technologies to pursue better results for the project.
One noted benefit that should be pinned is that Dambuster Studios offers all employees “Flexible start and end times to the working day.” After witnessing the stories of overworked and anxiety-ridden developers who continue to crunch towards releasing a game, it is reassuring that other studios attempt to stray from that narrative for game development.
Previously, Techland revealed that the spring-scheduled release for Dying Light 2 has been pushed to a later, undisclosed date. You can read the full report by heading here.
