The upcoming reimaging of THQ’s 2003 Spongebob Sqaurepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom was announced nearly a year ago and snippets of the game have emerged online alongside the game being playable at countless events. However, despite the coverage the remake has received, we still have yet to understand when the game will officially be arriving.
Dating last year to the game’s announcement, it was disclosed that nostalgic players can expect the game to arrive sometime in 2020. But while we are reaching the half way point in less than two months, there still is no sign of the arrival date as of yet.
Previously, it was presumed that Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated would be arriving in the later parts of next month following a slip date listing the game to arrive on May 24. The leak came from an email promo of approaching games that Nintendo sent dozens of Nintendo account holders, but the date was soon after retracted by the publisher.
Now in a new discovery on Microsoft’s domain, the Xbox Store, the official listing for Xbox One reads that Spongebob Sqaurepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated will be coming to the system and presumably other remaining hardware in June instead. The details of the game disclose added factors like the reworked visuals and the newly implemented horde mode that was not offered in the original version.
Even more, THQ Nordic just today officially revealed that Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated will officially be arriving on the listed date. As of now, pre-orders for PC and Xbox are available: the remaining Switch and PlayStation versions has yet to go live for pre-purchase as of reporting. THQ Nordic tells that pre-ordering for the Switch will go live this coming Tuesday, April 21.
