During last week’s PlayStation State of Play presentation, developer Remedy Entertainment properly showcased the second story expansion for Control, AWE. However, what many did not catch until the official reveal was that the next experience will bridge the current title with 2010’s Alan Wake. But with this only being one instance for Remedy Entertainment connecting its storylines, this will certainly not be the last.
Following the announcement trailer for AWE, Remedy Entertainment’s Creative Director Sam Lake penned a blog post expanding on the future of the “Remedy Connected Universe”. In that, he elaborates that the team has anticipated intertwining the two stories for quite some time, but was unsure how to pursue it. Now officially unveiling the crossover between both titles, there is more underway, Lake shares.
Later in the post, he discloses that this is simply the start of something larger as the story will continue on connected to a new title that is currently in development.
The AWE expansion is the first official Remedy Connected Universe crossover event, bringing more Alan Wake lore into Control. And this is still just a humble beginning. We’re already hard at work on a future Remedy game that also takes place in this same universe.
However, the teasing to Remedy Entertainment’s next project dries up there essentially. Lake nor the entity of the developer failed to disclose if the new project will in fact be a sequel to either Alan Wake, Control, or simply a new game altogether. But despite the lacking details, we are certain the project has been well into development already.
Previously, Remedy Entertainment shared to be collaborating with Epic Games on a couple of AAA projects that will be published by the Fortnite handlers. Although there is no further details to elaborate on the coming project, it does frame the game to be slated for arrival in the coming future when the developer is ready to share more.
