It was nearly a month ago that users on Xbox One were able to sample the multiplayer portion for Smilegate’s upcoming, first-person shooter, CrossfireX. The beta would only be available on the system and feature just some of what the full game will include when it arrives later on. However, the story campaign for CrossfireX was still left vacant as fans are still in the dark from what has been underway for the project.
Announced during the conception of CrossfireX, Microsoft disclosed that Remedy Entertainment would be helming to story for the anticipated sequel while Smilegate managed the multiplayer for the game. Now in a new trailer that was presented during today’s Xbox Games Showcase, players can get a look for what to expect in the story-driven segment of CrossfireX.
You can watch the new story trailer in the video below:
“A legendary PC franchise comes to Xbox in a fast-paced first person shooter offering a variety of exhilarating multiplayer experiences and a cinematic campaign that explores the global conflict between the world’s two most formidable private military factions,” the game’s description shares on the Microsoft Store.
Excitingly, the story for CrossfireX is expected to be a thoughtful experience if Remedy Entertainment is responsible for penning the game’s plot. The developer most recently worked on Control which was nominated for Game of the Year 2019. We highly suggest you understand the context of Remedy’s capabilities with narrative-driven journeys by reading our full review for the game.
Additionally, Microsoft also disclosed that CrossfireX will also be shipping for Xbox Series X alongside its current-generation sibling, Xbox One. Perhaps with the title arriving to multiple systems, fans could expect cross-generation play if the game will arrive to all systems when it arrives in the coming future. The firm does state that despite the game being free-to-play, the story can be purchased via a ‘Premium Battle Pass’ when the title drops.
