The lineage of Assassin’s Creed titles continues to come periodically from Ubisoft every other year. The latest being Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which shipped in fall 2020 is starting to age, but the firm is not so urgent to drop the title just yet. Recently, the firm revealed a new roadmap slated for the coming year is already underway to the game making it the longest supported title in the franchise.
Additionally, Valhalla is said to expand its story with a prequel set in Baghdad. According to Bloomberg and corroborated by Eurogamer, the next entry is to follow Hidden One’s missionary Basim in the events leading up to the story for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Elsewhere, fans might have heard of the new live-service title ‘Assassin’s Creed Infinity’ which is taking form internally as well.
In a new report from Kotaku, it is indicated that one fragment of Infinity is called ‘Project Red’. While the codenamed title was discovered from the outlet, Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier disclosed the project is tied to ‘Assassin’s Creed Infinity and is set in Japan. So fans constantly calling to Ubisoft for a Japanese set experience – similar to Valhalla being made into a reality – will have their answer soon enough.
Additionally, another title dubbed ‘Project Rift’ is in the works as well. The second project title is told be a standalone entry connected to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. This is likely to be the new Baghdad game if the claims are true. Currently, there is less details to expand on what the unannounced project will follow in terms of its setting and story.
Some sad news for Assassin’s Creed fans though: Ubisoft announced it is canceling the upcoming virtual reality project. The game alongside a Splinter Cell project was in the works with Oculus, but the firm pulled the plug on the initiative. You can read the full report by heading here.
