Report: Microsoft Schedules To Ship Xbox Game Pass Via Browser-based App For iOS In 2021

It has been about two months since the unfortunate feed of news from Microsoft revealing that the firm would not be further pursing iOS for the then-approaching Project xCloud. And it is not to say that Microsoft did not want to implement support for Apple users, but that the policy guidelines constructed by Apple themselves refrained Microsoft from integrating xCloud to the platform without facing a 30 percent cut of its own profits in the middle of it.

Howbeit, it was about a month or so that Apple announced to be restructuring its policy following strict criticism the firm faced when word broke out on its behalf at the time. In that, the new rules applied would allow Microsoft alongside other platforms like Google’s Stadia to flourish on iOS. But there is one catch: each title would is required to be listed individually on The App Store where Microsoft responded in outrage on the consumer’s behalf.

Now this week, a new report surfaced from Business Insider sharing that Microsoft will be launching the Xbox Game Pass app – the client to use xCloud – through a browser-based app sometime in 2021. This approach allows Microsoft to run its operations on iOS without the repercussions of being homed on The App Store.

According to individuals familiar with the recent set of information, Xbox head Phil Spencer states that “we [xCloud] absolutely will end up on iOS.” To indulge further on support of xCloud on iOS, this is a major deal for users on the platform especially seeing how limited the TestFlight was for Project xCloud for Apple owners which started back in February.

In relevance to more recent xCloud news, the Xbox lead elsewhere on Twitter elaborated on new features utilizing the cloud-based initiative. He tells that Microsoft is working to incorporate game demos for Xbox Game Pass so players on console and PC do not have to install before playing to learn if it was worth the wait.
