Report Of A Sequel For The Outer Worlds Surfaces Following Announcement Of Game’s Steam Version

Last word regarding The Outer Worlds broke about almost two months back in August of this year. It was during the second annual Gamescom Opening Night Live that Obsidian Entertainment unveiled the then-upcoming expansion, Peril in Gorgon. And following the debut of the add-on story for the 2019 title, nothing beyond that has been expected since.

But now in a new finding on Steam, The Outer Worlds is preparing to hit the storefront fairly soon. The announcement of the game’s new embarking for the Valve-owned platform was made just this past Friday from Obsidian Entertainment. The timing of the listing does appear to be the timed-exclusivity of The Outer Worlds on Epic Games Store.

But more interesting about the game arriving to Steam is that new claims suggest there will be more of the series with a future installment. This coming from Niko Partners’ David Ahmad on Twitter who disclosed that development on the unannounced sequel has already began.

In the post, Ahmad tells that the follow-up is still “being explore” as the project is sitting in the pre-production phase, he pens. So concepts on the new title is still being tossed around and searching for definite state for the game cannot be determined as of yet. What really raises the question is what firm will be funding the second entry.

As many are well aware by now, Obsidian Entertainment is and Xbox Game Studios team. After the team’s acquisition alongside InXile Entertainment in 2018, many were questioning what that meant for The Outer Worlds at the time. Ultimately since the game was shared prior to the studio’s purchase and being dealt under Take-Two Interactive subsidiary Private Division, the game remained a multiplatform release.

But there is room to speculate that the second release might not be the same, at least for now. While there is no concrete details disclosing whether The Outer Worlds sequel is being published by Private Division or the developer’s owner Microsoft, the idea can be categorized as a rumor until properly shared later on. As for release and the current pre-production state of the follow-up, it is best to expect the game to be a next-generation exclusive release.

What are you most excited to see from this told sequel for The Outer Worlds?
