For now, Take-Two Interactive subsidiary Rockstar Games is currently busy with elaborating more on the evolution for Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption II. Given the age of the first game and the title’s growing popularity the past decade, there are no signs of stopping for the firm entering the third generation of consoles for the 2013 release.
In the meantime, ambitions for Rockstar Games to further grow its armada of talent continues to grow in the past year. In May 2019, it was shared that Rockstar Games acquired former Starbreeze Studios team, Dhruva Interactive. The Bangalore team was accumulated into the Rockstar India division for the developer.
Now in a new report from TheGamer, Rockstar Games shows interest in another developer, Ruffian Games. The first surfacing evidence suggesting the change came from @ConorGamingzHD on Twitter last month who uploaded an image sparing the team’s new title – Rockstar Dundee. Even earlier in October last year, the team verified to be hiring for a new, undisclosed Rockstar Games projects more recently.
The new name for the firm, of course, derives from the city Dundee based is Scotland that the studio operates in. The newly welcomed developer will be fifth team under Rockstar Games that is working from the United Kingdom: that being alongside Rockstar North, Rockstar International, Rockstar London, Rockstar Leeds, and Rockstar Lincoln.
Rockstaar Dundee now was previously recognized for the team resilience in developing the 2010 Xbox 360 exclusive, Crackdown 2. For the most part, the firm has developed primarily under Microsoft’s eye with several projects including the later Crackdown 3, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and a collection of Kinect titles. Only two titles from the team which Microsoft was not involved were released: Fragmental (2017), and RadTV (2019).
Most recently this past July, it was reported that studio Video Game Deluxe – most known for is work on L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files – is working on a new, unnamed Rockstar Games project. Perhaps the newly purchased Rockstar Dundee is also a part of that new project. You can read the full report by heading here.
What do you think this new acquisition will bring to fruition for Rockstar Games?
