Earlier this Tuesday Apex LegendsVoidwalker Event came to an end after being live for an enjoyable two-week long period. And while fans are back to the basics of this current Season 2 for the Titanfall-influenced battle royale, Respawn Entertainment is prepping for the next piece of content for their latest project.

In a new Stories from the Outlands trailer with the alias of “Forever Family,” we pick up some of the back story for the computer hacking Legend, Crypto. Discovering a prediction algorithm, his friend Mila intercepts the decryption and is met with her kidnapping and our next addition in a fleeing gunfight through a futuristic city.

Right off the bat, the first detail that grabbed me especially was the setting of Angel City from the Titanfall series: while Apex Legends is set in the same universe, it would be a fun return to the iconic metropolis in a revamped iteration for the new online genre. And while watching the character unveils himself as the trailer progresses, we get a taste of some of his traits that could potentially be in the game.

Such as his electro-magnetic grenade which shows to glitch enemy hardware, frying the apparatus and shutting down the machine. Another being his assistant drone which looks to reveal enemy coordinates when deployed. Crypto also looks to be able to take advantage of his surroundings by interfering with electronically-controlled doors as shown during his escape, which seems the most likely to reinvigorate the current gameplay formula.

Losing his friends/family ultimately pushes him to become a Legend and that shows through his concluding transformation which strips him of his civilian clothing for a more combat-ready appearance as teased at the end of the trailer.

Although there is a lot to take from the three-minute video, only the character has been confirmed to be the next added Legend to the game. Other details that were mentioned are only speculation until properly announce. And while I hope that we can have 60-Legend battles in the notorious multiplayer setting, I still take the reference with a pinch of salt towards being fact.

Apex Legends is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
