Reveal For Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Schedules January 2025 Release

Although Mario is the obvious mascot for Nintendo and its family of consoles, other related characters tend to face the same spotlight – that includes his original adversary Donkey Kong. Recently, the character has been given more stage time for fans excited to see more. To give perspective, the last game – Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze – arrived to Nintendo Switch back in 2018.

However, the character has welcomed new attention these past few months. In late 2023, it was reported that Donkey Kong is to welcome his own section of the Universal theme park at Super Mario World Japan. Additionally, he also co-starred in Mario Vs. Donkey Kong which released this past winter.

Now on Tuesday, Nintendo during its live presentation announced Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are back for some ground-pounding action in this HD version of Donkey Kong Country Returns, originally released on the Wii system. The villainous Tiki Tak Tribe has stolen Donkey Kong’s precious banana hoard and the Kongs are barreling after them in pursuit!” the press release synopsis reads.

“Play solo, or with a buddy in local two-player co-op in an adventure brimming with hijinks where you can stomp obstacles, send mine carts careening, fly high on rocket barrels and even hitch a ride on Rambi the Rhino. Experience 80 a-peel-ing levels, including the additional ones from the Nintendo 3DS version.”
