The legacy that trailed Konami’s Silent Hill franchise is still deemed to be a stepping stone for the thriller/horror genre of interactive entertainment. Especially the landmark Silent Hill 2 which released in 2001, fans across all platforms are aware about the merit that Konami’s series has earned through its obscure world that inhabits beneath the surface of the overall universe. It was back in 2014 when players sought to play the next installment as Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro, and Norman Reedus through the technical demo dubbed ‘P.T.’.

For those who managed to decipher their way to the ending learned that the brief playtest only gave just a taste of what is to come for the then-upcoming Silent Hills project. Unfortunately, it was discovered later in 2015 that upon Hideo Kojima’s departure from Konami that development would cease to continue. To add more to the pain, it wasn’t revealed until last year that development hardly even kicked off as Junji Ito who was also involved in the project disclosed to have never begun illustrating for the cancelled title.

Regardless of what was for the prior experience that Konami planned to release, a new rumor has emerged which tells of two new projects to be in development for the Silent Hill series. According to Dusk Golem who goes by @AestheticGamer1 on Twitter claims that the publisher is looking to different development teams to produce these unannounced titles.

The leaker shares that one of the titles is said to be a “soft-reboot” of the Silent Hill franchise while the other alleged project will be an episodic experience similar to Telltale’s structure for their projects.

Before we go jumping to the conclusion of this rumor to be consider fact, it is best we dig a little before we even suggest the claims being legitimate. In light of the potential leaks, Dusk Golem previously has disclosed information that later happened to be true for Resident Evil 7 free content ‘Not A Hero’. While he does claim the DLC to arrive in Spring 2017, it was shared later on that Capcom pushed the content to December.

Another instance of more recent credibility comes from March of last year as the Twitter user claims that Resident Evil 3 Remake was already in development, which we know now is the case as it will be arriving this coming April.

The Twitter poster ends the thread by sharing their prediction that these unannounced titles could possibly be announced later on in 2020. Ultimately, Dusk Golem’s track record does hold some merit, but it is still suggested you take their claim as theory before being properly announced.

What are your thoughts of the potential Silent Hill rumors?
