In a report according to Polygon, Microsoft is looking to towards Electronic Arts as well as Valve and PUBG Corp as an target for acquisition.
In Microsoft’s attempt to bring new IPs and exclusives to their platform, this might seem odd or even ridiculous to see Microsoft, but not impossible. As Microsoft recently signed for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to be a timed exclusive last year, it seems almost probable that they would soon enough acquire not just PUBG Corp, but even Bluehole Studios also.
For EA being in the picture, to be acquired by Microsoft would be game changing to the industry and overall make a revision for the gaming market with what’s to follow after that. With Microsoft already having EA’s games showcased for the past few years and even providing EA Access to those on their platform gives an even bigger chance for this to become a reality.
With the least likely comes to being Valve. As being privately owned, would making the attempt at acquiring difficult as it is. And owner Gabe Newell being known to not fancy Microsoft especially for their attempt at gaming via Windows 10. All in all, Microsoft will have to make some moves soon as Sony is slowly coming with a line of titles in the upcoming months to boost their already exceeding numbers of consoles. With recently reviving Fable is to kick them off, this acquisition rumor will definitely help if it were to be true.
