The other day Google revealed their new stream-based gaming platform, Stadia. Yesterday, it was reported that Snapchat Inc. will be revealing their own gaming platform for their popular app. Now, according to reports from US Gamer, Walmart has been in discussions with multiple developers and publishers about its own game streaming service. According to the outlet, the major retailer has conducted meetings throughout 2019 and at this years GDC event that is currently taking place in San Francisco.

No other details were brought up currently, but this would bolster Walmart going into the digital space and trying to compete with Amazon. At one point the company also explored the possibility of a Netflix-style TV streaming service, but found that to be too risky. It’s hard to tell how far the conversations will go with Walmart’s planned streaming service, but we should wait and see what happens this year if they want to reveal more details.

Walmart has always had a good online store when it comes to good video game deals. It’s not too surprising that a company this large wants to try and compete with one of the top dogs in Amazon, who have been dominant when it comes to digital services.

Another game service, EA Access has been hinted to come to PlayStation 4 soon.

What are your thoughts about more companies creating their own stream-base gaming platform?
