While there was only one Call of Duty title that shipped last fall, the series is still expanding on a yearly basis with a new entry presumed to ship this fall. And despite the franchise returning back to the two-year cycle between Infinity Ward & Treyarch, it was previously rumored that Sledgehammer Games would be making a return to the development pipeline for 2021. Although not much information was given, the team was said to be working on another World War II release.
Dubbed ‘Call of Duty: Vanguard’, no other details at the time were shared on how the game will expand its presents beyond 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. However, it was not until this past May that developer Sledgehammer Games confirmed to be working on this year’s game. Charlie Intel at the time transcribed a statement from Activision quoting the new release is to showcase the next-generation hardware’s capabilities at the time.
Now from a new discovery over at Video Game Chronicles, the alleged Call of Duty: Vanguard is real. The outlet says so since the PlayStation Store has posted an ad for the game’s reveal to take place later this Thursday, August 19. You can view the image below:
From YouTuber AJ21 & Family, developer Treyarch also sneaked in hints towards Call of Duty: Vanguard as well. In that, completing a game of Warzone and exiting the battlefield will also present what appears to be a World War II cadet unmounting from a sniping positing. So, it is likely more on the project is to be unveiled later this week seeing the timing of information coming out.
Noted, Activision is still under fire for the current discoveries of its treatment towards employees of minority – specifically women and those representing the LGBTQ community.
