In the coming up for Xbox Series X|S and the titles that will define the newest console on the market, many users put their sight on anticipated titles from internal teams like Halo Infinite, Everwild, or even Avowed. But while these properties are still on the way, there are other entries that also highlight the platform outside of Xbox Game Studios. Looking at developer GSC Game World, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is another featured title worth mentioning.

Previously indicated by the Ukrainian game studio in the past, it was told that Xbox is the only console that the sequel is aimed for. When pressed on the supported platforms, “PC and Xbox Series X\S” is the response made on the matter. Especially since the series never broke from its PC roots in the past, this is a major move for the decade-long brand.

Now in a follow-up from GSC Game World, the team once again reiterates on the matter. In a statement to GamingBolt, the developer expresses it has “no plans for now” on bringing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 to PlayStation 5. Although that does not directly confirm there will never be a port for the Sony console, the team adds, “We’re concentrating on the Xbox Series X/S version.”

Given the circumstance with how heavy-handed Microsoft has been with the marketing for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 recent months, it is presumed that the Xbox company established an arrangement to hold exclusive ties to the game when nearing its release. “No plans for now,” the developer said. “We negotiated the possibilities with Microsoft and saw several good opportunities for the brand — including Game Pass.”

As for what other tricks are under the hat for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 with Xbox, mod support is another possibility. In a separate statement to Kotaku earlier this year, GSC Game World is investigating to bring the feature to console. Notorious for its expansive modding community, the remark is another staple for more series DNA to potentially migrate outside of PC. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you hoping S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 gets a PlayStation version later on?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is coming sometime in 2021 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
