It was announced back in July that many could not predict to make an appearance: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. would be coming to console. More importantly, the sequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is expected to release on Xbox Series X. The reveal took place at the Xbox Game Showcase with the game presented to be hitting Xbox Game Pass. However, additional details failed to follow the title since the initial announcement.
There did happen to be one instance on the Xbox website which features S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 for the then-approaching Xbox Series X. The webpage for the game disclosed that players can find raytracing integration atop of 120 frames per second support for when the game drops for the newest Xbox iteration. But, the trail dried up there.
However, GSC Game World PR Manager Bocharov Zakhar elaborates further on the already pressed information for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. In a response tweet, he discloses that the follow-up will only be arriving to the latest lines of Xbox Series models and PC. “Hello – PC and Xbox Series X/S only,” his writing reads when crunched through an automated translator.
More importantly, we learn that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be arriving to not only the Xbox Series X & PC, but also the entry-level Xbox Series S as well. During the July announcement, the system has yet to be unveiled as the lingering Project Lockhart SKU continued to be whispered through the grapevine at the time of reporting.
Even more, IGN also uploaded a new ‘In-Engine Gameplay Teaser Trailer’ which offered a new, but short glimpse at S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. In it, we also learn that the game is also planned to arrive day one to Xbox Game Pass sometime later in 2021. So atop of now confirming the title’s unique release for Xbox in regard to console, the game is also arriving this year later down the line.
