Last month, developer Volition revealed that 2014’s Saints Row IV would be receiving a Nintendo Switch port and ship under the ‘Re-Elected’ alias offering the full package of downloadable content that followed the title’s initial release. And while the game is still awaiting to launch on the Nintendo eShop next week, there looks to be news elsewhere regarding the franchise.
According to two listings on GameFly, online video game rental service, share to have leaked Saints Row: The Third ahead of the game’s appropriate announcement. The news was brought to our attention by Gematsu who shared the information, which you can view in the tweet below:
This instance will now be the third time the 2011 title will be releasing – following the initial launch, and for Nintendo Switch last spring. The most interesting aspect about the entire situation is the concept that dictates developer Volition to continue returning the latter installments to newer hardware. Although they are enjoyable entries, more fans online are vocal about the first two games to return instead of what we are receiving currently.
Alongside remasters/ports, Saints Row is also returning with a new installment. While unsure what this new game will be exactly, publisher THQ Nordic disclosed last year that the developer is “deep in development” on the next mainline entry for the series. Especially as there has yet to be a flagship title since 2013, fans are surely hungry for a new game.
Do you think you’ll be picking up Saints Row: The Third Remastered?
Saints Row: The Third Remastered is listed for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with no set release date as of yet.
