The prequel to The Messenger, Sea of Stars is set for a release in Summer 2023 as it was announced yesterday from a video by Yasunori Mitsuda. The Chrono Trigger-inspired RPG will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. It tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.

Originally, Sea of Stars was set to release in 2022, but it looks like it has been just a little bit longer. In the latest video where Mitsuda provides the update we get a small tease of what the music will be like in-game.

Sabotage Studios has not provided an exact release date for Sea of Stars.
