This morning, Rare announced that Sea of Thieves has passed more than 15 million players since its launch in March 2018. 

“It’s both thrilling and humbling to share with you that Sea of Thieves has been played by more than fifteen million players since our launch in March 2018.”
 
In January it was announced that the game had 10 million players and in the first six months of 2020 there were more players on Sea of Thieves than the whole year of 2019. Obviously the release of the game on Steam has helped a ton with the streaming community on Twitch being a huge fan of it. 
 

 

 “We’ve been blown away by the support we’ve seen from the Steam community, with over 1M copies of the game having been sold so far and the game regularly appearing in the top selling and most played games charts. “

 
June 2020 was the biggest month that Sea of Thieves ever had in terms of active players with more than 3.3 million setting sail. It’s worthy to note that  Xbox Game Pass has helped Sea of Thieves in the past in regards of getting players to try out the game as part of the program. 
 
In other news, Skulls & Bones; development has been restructured by Ubisoft making it an open world and online service experience.
