The current spread laid out from Sega is enticing to say the least. At The Game Awards in 2023, it was revealed that Sega will be delving into its vault of legacy franchises and reviving roughly a handful of these IPs – Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage. Not to mention the growing list of others titles that were uncovered elsewhere via filings revealing Kid Chameleon, Eternal Champions, and Altered Beast as well.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg for what’s to come. Since then, nothing has truly materialized from the ‘New Energy’ effort just yet. But, it appears Jet Set Radio will certainly be in the first wave. According to one leaker, the game is planned to release by 2026. Additionally, new images did leak online sharing the improvements the series inherits from the two decade hiatus for Jet Set Radio.

Now according to Sega’s Masayoshi Kikuchi, the Jet Set Radio project is shaping to welcome new information and possibly more in a future reveal. Kikuchi hints at this in his statement part of the recent 4Gamer Japanese game creator end-of-year interview & ambitions blog, Gematsu transcribes.

“I’m still working away on the new Jet Set Radio game. 2025 is also the 25th anniversary of Jet Set Radio, so I’m thinking about how to celebrate it.” It is no secret that the series is to be reflected upon by Sega as the firm is already working on the new game. However, while its appears the title is not forecasted to release this year, it can still use the opportunity to celebrate with new details on the coming project.

Elsewhere, Shenmue also celebrates its birthday too recently. And, new owners for Shenmue 3 ININ Games are already working on something for the 2019 title. According to a poll issued by the developer, it is asking players what it would like to see the game on other platforms outside of PlayStation & PC. You can read the full report by heading here.
