In the ongoing ambition from Sega to continue to diversify its current lineup of games and bring it to the broadest audience possible, the Japanese firm has explored new opportunities to do so. With the release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon in 2020, the game has proven to be the catalyst for its extended support to deliver more worldwide releases to follow suit with future titles as well.

Additionally, Sega is to explore new ambitions in a collaboration with Microsoft for the tech giant’s Azure technology. The agreement is said to deliver a new “Super Game” that is to be a byproduct of the arrangement. However, a later financial report from Sega does clarify that the deal does not solidify the project to be a unique release for the Xbox platform.

Back in January, Sega announced it will be opening a new division in Sapporo City under the alias ‘Sega Sapporo’. The team is to be helmed by Phantasy Star Online 2 Chief Producer Takaya Segawa. Segawa is a Sega veteran for more than three decades since joining the company back in 1992.

“Sega has accumulated diverse know-how for more than 60 years under its policy of creating innovative content and creating new inspiring experiences. at Sega Sapporo studio, which will be opened this time, we will utilize these know-how to work together with those who wish to work there, and play a part in the development of entertainment that can be disseminated from Japan to the world and enjoyed,” Segawa says in a statement from the auto-translated press release.

What this new ambition Sega is tackling forth with Sega Sapporo could be its revitalization initiative. In a previous earnings report, Sega Sammy expressed interest to revisit beloved IPs such as Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, and Space Channel 5. You can read the full report by heading here.
