Rewinding back to 2018 with the release for Shadow of the Tomb Raider comes to the ultimate conclusion for the rebooted trilogy from developer Crystal Dynamics. At the time, Rectify Gaming received the game with an 8.5/10 for its performance to being the best game of the three from the developer. “A clear Game of the Year candidate for me.,” says our critic David Rodriguez at the time.
During the initial upcoming release for the game years prior, Eidos Montreal – a support team for the project – confirmed that the game will run at 4K resolution with 60 frames per second on Xbox One X. Coming the verdict, the game offers two modes: resolution or framerate. So, the mechanic is there, but split between two modes for the players preference.
However, in a new discovery from MP1st, a new update for Shadow of the Tomb Raider includes enhancements for the latest console hardware. With that, Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 is to receive a dedicated update for the game. Here are the patch notes on the upgrade provided from the report:
Version 2.01
Support for 4K at high frame rate on PlayStation 5 in high resolution mode.
Previously, Square Enix announced the Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy scheduled to release next year. While offered for last-generation systems, the newest Xbox & PlayStation systems can also indulge in the experience as well. It is presumed the features in the update this week will be greater for the native versions coming in 2022.
Earlier this year, Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation Plus at the start of January included Shadow of the Tomb Raider alongside Greedfall, and Maneater. So many PlayStation users should already have the game ready for PlayStation 5. You can read the full report by heading here.
