With the start of the new decade, the 2020s were appearing to be a new & exciting time for Vampire: The Masquerade fans. For one, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong appeared to be an exciting byproduct of the string of announcements. From our review: “Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong has excellent source material and can definitely be a fun experience at times. It might just take too long to fully embrace you.”

Additionally, it was revealed that the series would be adopting a battle royale experience as well with developer Sharkmob at the helm. It was not until summer 2021 that the game entered early access. And for many avid players, the game proved to be a unique experience that strands away of simply being labeled a battle royale like Warzone & Fortnite.

But in a new announcement this week, Sharkmob reveals Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is to be shuttering development. Despite that, the servers are promised to stay online with an active playerbase continuing to return.

Ever since launch, we have been on a journey to excite and delight our players, however, while we have an amazing and very engaged community, we haven’t been able to reach the critical mass needed to sustain development. This has led us to the decision to stop further development of Bloodhunt.

“With that said, Bloodhunt servers will stay up and the game will remain available to play. Our aim is to keep the servers going for as long as we have an active player base and community. For those who enjoy the game and want to continue playing, we have worked on some solutions to ensure that the game continues to be interesting. An in-game player voting system will be deployed to regularly unlock new things and keep Bloodhunt fresh.

“We will share more granular details about how this system works when we get closer to releasing our next update, which will be the last planned patch for Bloodhunt. Beyond that update, patches will only be related to maintenance.” The decision also steers to in-game purchases planned to be turned off on September 26th this fall.

In similar news regarding Vampire: The Masquerade, it was announced that development was changing hands for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Announced back in 2020, the game despite its rave anticipation has dropped developer Hardsuit Labs as progress was not consistent at the team. You can read the full report by heading here.
