This past Fall, it was shocking news when the gaming industry discovered that Telltale Games will soon to be as roughly 80% of the developer’s staff has been let go abruptly along with no severance given to those affected in the incident. What this meant for the games coming from the studio? We know now, but at the time, there was a scare that The Walking Dead: The Final Season would be cancelled halfway through Clementine’s conclusion to her passage in the series.
But the publisher of the based comic series Skybound created a titular video game division to preserve the series and ultimately pulled through to finish the last two episodes for the game. But for titles prior, the games that were published by the now-closed Telltale slowly phased from storefronts and began to be delisted from gaming marketplaces. Only leading to physical discs the last option to play Telltale’s titles if initially missing out.
But Skybound Games has revealed that those who have been looking for a way to play the flagship Walking Dead series from Telltale can do just that with the Walking Dead Definitive Series. The new title to offer all games from the first season of Clementine & Lee to A.J. & Clementine in the Final Season as well as the spin-off Michonne title with the new “Graphic Black visual enhancements.”

Seeing the Skybound is looking to keep at least The Walking Dead IP alive from Telltale Games, hopefully other companies will do the same for the other licensed series that were created by the now-closed developer. I would love to see The Tales from the Borderlands get the same treatment, as in my own opinion, is defined as the best episodic series from Telltale.
Seeing that Gearbox Software is making the series canon for the September-releasing Borderlands 3, it would make sense that Gearbox or 2K get a hold of the game so those who want to do some back tracking can do just that without the nuisance of the game being delisted from platform’s respected store.
Walking Dead Definitive Series will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and The Epic Games Store for PC on September 10, 2019.
