At the start of the week, the PlayStation Store leaked that the next Call of Duty game is to be revealed on Thursday, August 19. While nothing has been set in stone for this year’s release, claims told that the 2021 title is to be dubbed ‘Vanguard’ as developer Sledgehammer Games is to return to work on the next mainline entry.

In one statement – err, more so a GIF on Twitter – Sledgehammer Games verified it is returning to work on this year’s release. The developer verified the claims by sharing its ‘resurrection’ with a GIF of WWE’s The Undertaker rising once more. Following the discovery on the PlayStation Store, Activision & Sledgehammer Games posted a teaser trailer with its focus aimed for this Thursday.

Now moments ago, Sledgehammer Games uploaded the official reveal trailer for the game which you can view in the video below:

“Rise on every front: Dogfight over the Pacific, airdrop over France, defend Stalingrad with a sniper’s precision and blast through advancing forces in North Africa,” the description reads for the game on the PlayStation Store. “The Call of Duty franchise returns with Call of Duty: Vanguard, where players will be immersed in visceral WWII combat on an unprecedented global scale.

“Through a deeply engaging single player Campaign, a select group of soldiers from different countries rise to meet the world’s gravest threat. Players will also make their mark across Call of Duty’s signature Multiplayer experience and an exciting new Zombies experience.

“Call of Duty: Vanguard will also usher in a new and unparalleled Call of Duty: Warzone integration post launch, and feature cross-progression and cross-generation play, in addition to a massive calendar of free post-launch content that adds in new Multiplayer maps, modes, seasonal events, community celebrations and more.”

Alike Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Activision is offering a Cross-Gen Bundle which delivers both the last-generation and current-generation version of Call of Duty: Vanguard in one package for $69.99. Of course, an open beta for the game is to take place later on in the year with PlayStation ahead of other platforms.
