Tom first reported about the Q-Lite in April and has put out accurate reports so it’s almost safe to assume that we can expect Project Q later this year.
Original: To conclude most of the PlayStation Showcase, Jim Ryan of Sony announced something new for PlayStation 5 owners and that’s Project Q. This new handheld will allow you to play games you have installed on your PlayStation 5 and stream it over to it through Wi-Fi.
This is what Jim Ryan said during the PlayStation Showcase:
“We will launch a dedicated device that enables you to stream any game from your PS5 console using Remote Play over Wi-Fi, Internally known as ‘Project Q,’ it has an 8-inch HD screen and all of the buttons and features of the DualSense wireless controller.”
The Project Q is capable of playing games up to 1080p 60fps. The device delivers crisp visuals and smooth gameplay streamed from your PS5 when you’re away from your TV. All of the buttons and features of the DualSense wireless controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, are featured on the device
This new handheld is nothing to compare with the PSP, PS Vita or even the Nintendo Switch. It’s just another way to play your PlayStation games. There is not a release date yet nor a price for Project Q.
The PlayStation Showcase featured a lot of new game announcements including Bungie’s new Marathon game coming out later in the year. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was also at the show with gameplay footage and a release window of Fall 2023.
