Sony Delays The Last of Us Part II & Iron Man VR “Until Further Notice” Due To Coronavirus Hindering Launch

The strangling grasp that society has been subjected to due to the overwhelming effect from the novel coronavirus continues to inflict more inconveniences in an new announcement made by Sony Interactive Entertainment. On Twitter the company revealed that two headlining titles from scheduled to release this coming May have been pushed due to the strenuous impact the ailment has put on the developers.

In the post, Sony reveals that Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II and Camouflaj’s Marvel’s Iron Man will be delayed “until further notice.”

To make matters worse on this issue already, both projects were initially scheduled for earlier dates, but were pushed ahead to this coming May due to requiring more time for release. The highly-anticipated sequel was originally slated to arrive back in February, but Naughty Dog decided to push the release finalize the kinks in the project so launch for the title would not be jeopardized.

As for the virtual reality title, Camouflaj told a similar story asking for more necessary time to live up to the studio’s potential for an over exceeding release. The game was also asking for more development time to capture the vision that fans for both video games and Marvel comics would expect. The VR experience as well was originally planning to release in February the same month as Naughty Dog’s sequel.

While this unfortunate news happens to fall on some of the most exciting projects shipping exclusively to the PlayStation platform, the same cannot be said about the approaching PlayStation 5. Recently, the website for the next-generation console was updated reaffirming that Sony is still planning to ship the latest hardware this coming holiday season. Despite how upsetting it is to see very popular games be shelved due to the circumstances, it is understandable as to why Sony made the decision. The precautions to adjust to the pandemic has left developers resorting to work-from-home routines which does intervene with the scope of the game’s outcome.
