In understanding how the Evolution Championship Series in 2020, the organizer went the route many believed required for the safety of its competitors and participants. Evo Online was announced and to be held across a span of weeks leading to the grand finals taking place at the beginning of August. However, due to disturbing allegations aimed at the founder of Evo, many partners withdrew from the event in the midst of operating.

But, the bigger surprised later learned to be the full-on acquisition by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Leading forward, the PlayStation company is expected to host its own series of competitive events exclusively on its platforms leading forward. But, it is worth noting that Microsoft previously acquired online event organizer Smash.gg prior to the later report.

According to a new blog post made on Tuesday, Sony Interactive Entertainment plans to commence Evo’s plans for 2021 with a new event kicking off next week. Leading forward, there are stringing PlayStation tournaments that will also take place until Evo Online later this summer.

Starting next week, the Evo Community Series features more than 120 tournaments across the globe, $74,000 in total prizing, and more than 100 hours of broadcasts. As part of this community celebration, PlayStation is hosting three tournaments from June 10 through August 3. Eligible PS4 players in select regions across the globe will be able to participate in these open-format competitions for a chance to vanquish rivals and win cash prizes.

Stephen Roberts, Sony Interactive Entertainment Vice President of Global Competitive Gaming

To reiterate, Sony Interactive Entertainment plans its new projects for its platform and the line of tournaments will be held uniquely on PlayStation 4. On June 10, the FGC Arcade Evo Edition is to take place followed by the Evo Warm-Up Rounds on June 26, then Evo Side Tournaments on July 8 until Evo Online which is being held on both August 6 – 8 & August 13 – 15.

The titles featured in the aforementioned events include: BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, Guilty Gear Strive, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Skullgirls 2nd Encore, Soulcalibur VI, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, Tekken 7, and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r].
