Reports indicate that Sony is in talks to acquire Kadokawa, the Japanese media giant that owns FromSoftware, the creators of Elden Ring. This report comes from Reuters as they have two sources familiar with the situation. They also claim both sides continue to talk and if it’s successful, a deal may come in the next few weeks.

Sony and Kadokawa have not commented on the situation either.

Elden Ring has been nothing but a huge success for FromSoftware as it sold over 25 million units with its most recent DLC selling over 5 million units this year. Elden Ring Shadow of The Erdtree was also nominated for Game of The Year which is a first for any DLC to be in that category.

It’s also worth noting that FromSoftware, owned by Kadokawa, is the developer behind Bloodborne which is a PlayStation 4 exclusive. With this acquisition, many fans hope it means a sequel will actually happen.
