Sony Unveils PlayStation Plus Collection Offering A Selection Of Titles Provided To Paying Subscribers On PlayStation 5

When it comes to backwards compatibility on PlayStation 5, Sony Interactive Entertainment has not been entirely transparent on the matters for the next-generation console. Even more, there looks to potentially be more that we are unfamiliar on the feature for the coming units. One being that the system might not support certain PlayStation generations entirely.

Last month, it was uncovered through a support page posted by Ubisoft disclosing PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 titles are not supported for PlayStation 5. While the statement was later removed, Sony has yet to clarify if the details were accurate or not. Howbeit, the firm during its most recent PlayStation 5 showcase illustrate its emphasis on select PlayStation 4 titles in a new way.

The firm did so by announcing PlayStation Plus Collection, the new program is offered to all PlayStation Plus subscribers offering a selection of current-generation titles to be playable on PlayStation 5. Here is the full lineup offered from the reveal:

The lineup presented is surely enticing especially for users who are migrating to the newer hardware and have yet to play a selection of games featured on the list. Majority of the firm’s first-party lineup on her is also illustrated to be a bold move for Sony Interactive Entertainment which is surely appreciated to also be included in the PlayStation Plus Collection.

In a recent interview elsewhere the same day, Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO Jim Ryan offered to reveal that about “99 percent” of PlayStation 4 games will eventually be playable on PlayStation 5. You can read the full report by heading here.
