With time now treading into territory approaching the upcoming release of the next generation consoles from both Microsoft and Sony, it is expected for a proper look at the new hardware as well from both companies. Already, Microsoft revealed the then-labeled “Project Scarlett” just last month during the yearly Game Awards show at the Microsoft Theater out of the blue alongside showcasing the visual capabilities of the system as well.
But regarding what Sony has in-store for their respected user base, there has been little to no word as when exactly eyes will be laid upon the forthcoming PlayStation 5. Discussion has already been tossed concerning some of the features that will be bundled in this year’s console with aspects like backwards compatibility and ray tracing technology to be what the fifth iteration of PlayStation will offer. But for a full reveal, that has yet to properly be disclosed from Sony themselves, yet.
Unlike what Microsoft did in December last year, we might have a chance to process ahead that Sony will be officially showcasing the PlayStation 5 very soon. According to a tweet made by Verge Senior Editor Tom Warren, that might actually be next week by stating that Sony will be having a press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in the coming week.
Warren in his tweet while not specifically confirming that the new console will be shown at this year’s CES event, he does imply that something will be eye-catching when reading his use of emoji in the post.
Even more convincing can be directed from a separate tweet elsewhere from God of War Director Cory Barlog who shares to be attending the show in Las Vegas next week also. Again, not emphasizing his relation to the event, his presence at CES regardless is expected to be more of the latter for the speculated reveal for the PlayStation 5. Ranking this more as conjecture, possibly he will showcase a game that will be launching for the new console?
Other indications that Sony’s PlayStation 5 could possibly be just around the corner to being fully presented at CES could also be taken from the official PlayStation Twitter account. When reading the description of the page, you can see that the ‘PS5’ has been added to the slew of listed consoles now.
Do you have high hopes of seeing the PlayStation 5 this coming week at CES?
