While many online are contemplating on which console to buy for the next-generation to save the most money in the long run, there is a larger concern at hand for those looking to pick up the newest and hottest games: a price increase. While we are accustomed to the current $60 price tag for games, the industry is looking to be adjusting to a more reasonable price point to align with the resources that are being infused into the respected project.
Already, we have witnessed some titles already doing so via Take-Two Interactive-owned properties. Even more, the 2K parent company even clarified that the additional cost for games is strictly justified based on the contents of the title that meets the amount of gameplay value for the player.
But now, it looks that Sony Interactive Entertainment is another firm to be adopting the new pricing for its first-party titles. Following the briefing for the coming PlayStation 5 during its recent showcase, Sony discloses that a selection of unique titles to its platform will be running for a higher price than anticipated.
Those titles include Demon’s Souls and Destruction All-Stars which are facing $70 for standard price. Additionally, the firm also shares that pricing for other entries like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales going for $50 and Sackboy A Big Adventure caught at $60. The pricing is suspected to be Sony’s financial net for a higher price margins following the official price point for the two PlayStation 5 iterations.
In the same post, Sony Interactive Entertainment also disclosed other information worth noting about the next-generation platform. Such as a trio of initially advertised next-generation titles for PlayStation 5 are also arriving simultaneously for PlayStation 4. Those disclosed to be Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West. You can read the full report by heading here.
