Sony Reveals PlayStation VR Mode Coming To Hitman 3

Rewinding back to June this year, Sony Interactive Entertainment held its PlayStation 5 showcase to introduce some of the anticipated properties that will leave a defining impression for the next-generation of console hardware. Among some of the big announcements present during the live presentation, developer IO Interactive revealed Hitman 3 shipping to current and upcoming systems later in early 2021.

With the game featured in Sony’s PlayStation 5-focused show, it is presumed that the team responsible could also capitalize on certain benefits for being associated with the next-generation console. Among some apparent perks like advertise space with the system’s logo, IO Interactive has pursued one of the platform’s peripherals: PlayStation VR.

In the most recent State of Play presentation, IO Interactive shares that PlayStation VR compatibility will be available for Hitman 3 when the game launches in 2021. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“We’re proud to announce that we are bringing VR support to every location from all three games,” IO Interactive’s Communications Manager Travis barbour shares in a blog post. “Every location from the World of Assassination trilogy can be played in VR, when you play them in Hitman 3. We’re working to finalize the specifics for how PS VR owners can enjoy Hitman in VR, and we’ll have more details to share in the months ahead.”

Regarding if the peripheral will expand to other headsets on PC like Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, IO Interactive has yet to properly disclose those details. With more to share in the coming weeks, its presumed the developer will spare new information then. Alongside PlayStation VR being notorious for marketing timed exclusive VR support – such as Resident Evil 7 – the same is suspected to be said for Hitman 3.

Looking ahead towards the approaching PlayStation 5, Sony recently disclosed that PlayStation VR still be supported for the next-generation console alongside backwards compatible entries that initially shipped for PlayStation 4. You can read the full report by heading here.
