Considering the direction to Sony has already committed to its platform already, many would presume that the firm has no need to entertain the idea of its unique properties breaking the boundaries of the PlayStation platform for other systems. Specifically PC, the firm has not shown much interest in porting the games developed by its internal teams to be playable for keyboard & mouse users.

Howbeit, entries such as Death Stranding and the more recent Horizon Zero Dawn both exist with PC versions on Steam which prove to be a possible new initiative for the firm to tack on in expanding its library to the platform. But now, the company has publicly stated to look into pursuing more potential candidates to arrive to PC later on.

In the most recent Corporate Report submitted by Sony, the company tells that there certainly is interest in providing more unique IPs to the platform following the reception of both games that shipped this year.

We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability.

Recognizing the possible financial success that can be achieved in translating its titles to PC, Sony has also expanded on increasing the name value of the most reputable entries that the firm billboards for the PlayStation brand. “Competition from online PC games and players from other industries is expected to continue to intensify.

“The fundamental growth strategy will be to innovate and evolve the PlayStation Platform. To this end, SIE intends to make proactive investments to reinforce content IP, and work to raise brand value, foster communities and user engagement, while enhancing DTC services that get closer to users.”

With the PlayStation 5 just on the horizon, the firm could really capitalize on pursuing more PC versions of its first-party lineup. If not upcoming PlayStation 5 projects, but at least current Sony Interactive Entertainment products like Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Order 1886, or Days Gone, it could bring in a really shiny penny for the company. The aforementioned titles could also shine even brighter on more optimized systems as well.

Ahead of the idea being conceived by Sony, God of War director Cory Barlog stated to be eager to work on a PC port of the 2018 title if the opportunity was on the table. However, there is one possible game already underway. That being Bloodborne, many industry insiders previously hinted at the game hitting PC with a PlayStation 5 version later on.
