March was off to a strong start with new game releases led by Split Fiction from Hazelight Studios and Electronic Arts. Within its first weekend, the co-op adventure game reached over 250K concurrent players on PC via Steam.
Today, Hazelight Studios announced that Split Fiction sold over 1 million copies within the first two days of its release. Further sales numbers have not been revealed, but we suspect more news will come once it has been a full week since launch.
Split Fiction is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It also has the Friend’s Pass feature which means if just one of you or your friend owns the game on any platform, you can play together. This is a feature that is unheard of these days in games. It Takes Two also had the Friend’s Pass feature which turned out to be a fan favorite.
Here is an overview of Split Fiction:
In Split Fiction, players will discover a variety of sci-fi and fantasy mechanics and abilities. Escape a sun that’s going supernova, challenge a monkey to a dance battle, try out some cool hoverboard tricks, fight an evil kitty, and ride everything from gravity bikes to a sandshark. With worlds that are entirely different from each other, surprising challenges await players at every turn.
Mio and Zoe are contrasting writers, one of sci-fi and the other of fantasy, who become trapped in their own stories after being hooked up to a machine designed to steal their creative ideas. Jumping back and forth between worlds, they’ll have to work together and master a variety of abilities in order to break free with their memories intact.
