Square Enix is starting to break into a tangent when it comes to the upcoming remaster for 2004 title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. The project was announced back in September of last year where initial GameCube title was announced to be hitting both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in the coming future. But later during this year’s E3 press conference hosted by Square Enix, Android & iOS were added to the mix as well.
Slated to release next month in January, that was suddenly scratched as the publisher has recently disclosed that the title will now be heading to all listed platforms the coming summer in 2020.
Originally, Square Enix shared that cross-platform play will be implemented between all platforms as a modern iteration of how the game was played through linked Game Boy handhelds back on the GameCube. Through multiplayer and even across competing systems, players will have more initiative to jump in even when they aren’t home now. Additionally, the publisher states that cross-saving progression will also be supported art launch now.
It is shared that the team working on the upcoming remaster ask for anticipating fans to be patient as the internal studio continues to work on squashing some of the bugs that are apparent in the development currently. Seeing that the title will be shared between four different platforms atop of being adapted to modern standards, it is appreciated that Square Enix is being honest with the fans on the matter.
Do you plan on scooping Crystal Chronicles later on this summer?
