From the likes of Square Enix, it has truly expanded the reach for its pixeled top-down RPGs this year alone. In June, we witnessed this with evident support on consoles. First being the addition of Octopath Traveler on PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5. At the same time, Octopath Traveler II was also included to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.

One red herring is the 2020 release Triangle Strategy. Releasing between both Octopath titles remains to be a unique title in itself. “Triangle Strategy is a stellar title from a sound studio and an excellent return to the SRPG genre that has seen a resurgence,” our review for the game says, adding it “embraces its narrative to and refined tactical battles to create a compelling tactical experience.”

On Wednesday, Square Enix & Meta announces Triangle Strategy will be coming to Meta Quest next month in October. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“You’ll get a better view of the battlefield with 360-degree movement that lets you see the conflict how you want. Controlling characters is a snap and incredibly immersive thanks to intuitive VR controls that let you place characters, take actions and define battle strategies with ease,” the press release reveals.

“Yes, the fate of Serenoa and his allies is now in your hands (well, in a pair of controllers technically, but you take our point). The game also supports Meta Quest’s Passthrough feature on Meta Quest 3 which lets you mesh the game’s environments with real-world surroundings. It’s fun, engaging and… well, just really cool.”
