Gearbox Software’s long-awaited Borderlands 3 has settled into the gaming market for nearly three months since the game’s initial release in September this year. Since then, the game has been received to the standards you would expect atop of achieving the fastest selling game for its publisher, 2K. However, Borderlands 3 still had one more trip before officially settling down.
No, not the Steam version, so actually two. Anyway, I’m talking about the game’s port to Google’s stream-based platform Stadia. The title was listed to arrive to the service ahead of its release, but as we saw in mid-November when Stadia arrived, no version released with the service.
But no worries for those on that side of the river, Borderlands has officially dropped for Stadia this week. But there is a catch, the version available is actually from late October, not the current build that users on competing platforms are playing currently. Gearbox shares so in a blog post recently:
For the moment the version of the game that you play on Stadia has benefitted from the updates and fixes that were released through October 24.
Even more, addition al content that was already delivered to other systems such as Mayhem 4 difficulty, more bank slots, the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite endgame add-on will be shelved for a later date, Gerabox adds. Same can also be said for the approaching Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot DLC expansion will also be prolonged into 2020 as well.
Despite the unfortunate news for Stadia owners, Gearbox does clarify that the team is looking to support full on parity among all versions of the game, but that will not be until next year as well. The developer does not clarify when exactly that will happen also; chances of that arriving following the DLC’s release for Stadia might be what’s in the forecast for Borderlands 3.
