This past November swiftly became a monumental achievement for both developer Respawn Entertainment alongside publisher Electronic Arts following the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The title acting as a new IP drawn in more fans as you would expect, but Jedi: Fallen Order also marked the first PC release for an EA game on Steam which surely drove impressive numbers over the in-house Origin launcher.
It was then reported that the game soon shot up towards becoming the highest selling release for Electronic Arts. That and sales for the title on PC respectively also landed some record breaking numbers for the publisher as well.
Now it seems that development on the title has commenced according to Kotaku News Editor Jason Schreier who disclosed the upcoming roadmap of releases for Star Wars games.
Today, EA has two new Star Wars games in development—a sequel to Jedi Fallen Order at Respawn and a smaller, more unusual project at EA Motive.
sequel is virtually unnecessary seeing the success brought by the title along with the portrayed cliffhanger, which won’t be revealed: it was expected that Respawn Entertainment would move on to begin developing a follow-up for the November-released title, however, it is what’s coming from EA Motive that raises some eyebrows.
Schreier tells that Montreal-based EA Motive is currently underway with an unnamed and “unusual” Star Wars game which wasn’t brought to public knowledge until his statement. The Canadian team has previously worked on the Uncharted-esque Ragtag which was ultimately cancelled last year. So a new project coming to fruition surely is something to get fans excited for the coming years.
