The cross-franchised brawler that many to this day will always know from one single word, smash, more specifically the latest installment Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been reported to introduce a new event for the tournament-structured mode for players to fight each other, but this time more reminiscently. This timed-event instead will only limit players to choose the roster of those comprised of the Super Smash Bros. Melee character selection.
For those who pay attention to the competitive sphere of the Super Smash Bros. series, Melee has stood to be the most preferable installments for the best of the best to prove their skill on. That was until this past EVO where it was revealed that Smash Melee will not be present for competition, only hosting a segment of the event for Smash Ultimate.
Regardless, users across the globe still practice and show their dedication to the 2001 title as there are a bevy of players who chose to stick to the Game Cube game over the current installment on Nintendo Switch. However, for those feeling nostalgic on the ongoing platform, Smash Ultimate owners can now do so with this new event. Jokingly, there has been an uproar of fans being very vocal about this event to also be dubbed “Melee HD”, a rework of the original game for modern hardware.
Essentially, this is the closest thing that the hardcore fans have been waiting for concerning a retouch of Smash Melee. Looking even closer at the images provided for this event as well, you can clearly see that Nintendo went the extra mile to recreate the stances with the character models of the original 26-character roster.
Do you plan on dropping into Smash Ultimate for this new homage event to Smash Melee?
