It looks that the first of many announcements that Nintendo planned to release for this afternoon’s Nintendo Direct has been leaked, however, this one many fans have already seen a mile away since last week. To freshen up on those who might have missed, a Nintendo Switch case themed after Blizzard’s Overwatch was listed on Amazon and was pulled from the online retailer shortly after its initial discovery.
The case’s description prior to being delisted read that it was a first-party product with both Nintendo as well as Blizzard Entertainment being the companies that processed the item onto Amazon. Along with the Joy Con zippers that was decorated on the case, Switch users surely believed that a port for the 2016 title is inbound to be revealed.
Now supporting the Switch version’s approaching reveal, Kotaku has confirmed that the port is in fact real and verifies the game’s release that has been rumored for October 15th. According to a ResetEra post by user vestan, the poster shared an image that details that Overwatch is scheduled to release on October 18 for Europe: the other listed date is speculated to align for the port’s release in North America. Kotaku then confronted two of its sources which supports the claim for Overwatch to debut on Switch next month.
In conjunction with the credibility of the leak seeing Kotaku confirming Blizzard’s title to release in mid-October, the same listing also suggests that the already leaked Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is also scheduled to release for PlayStation 4 on the same date. Other platforms of course will also receive the title on the same date: noted, the listing references the game’s launch in Japan, but the user clarifies that the release will land on the same day.
What else do you think will be revealed at today’s Nintendo Direct?
Overwatch is currently out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
