While the original reveal for GhostWire: Tokyo came to be a surprise for many upon anticipating a new release from Japanese developer Tango Gameworks back in 2019, the project became even more baffling upon learning that the game arranged a PlayStation exclusive release for a full year when later resurfacing. However, the game is still unsure when to leading to this week.

Previously, a PlayStation 5 CES promotional trailer did hint at an October release for the game at the time of reporting. However, there was no certifying the date from either Tango Gameworks nor Sony Interactive Entertainment. It appears that the reveal was questionable to present so early as the trailer was later adjusted removing the listings in the footage.

In a new announcement on Monday, Tango Gameworks via Twitter shared that a 2021 release date for GhostWire: Tokyo is not possible leaving the game to now expect an early 2022 arrival at the earliest.

“We’ve made the decision to delay the launch of Ghostwire: Tokyo to early 2022,” the letterhead shares. “We want to get the game in your hands as soon as possible so you can experience the unforgettable version of a haunted Tokyo that we’ve been hard at work building. At the same time, we’re also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango. Our new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we’ve always envisioned it.”

As for future plans from Tango Gameworks, Microsoft’s recent abridged acquisition for the developer via the purchase of Zenimax Media is to bring new emphasis on Japanese content for Xbox. During the official celebration of Bethesda becoming an Xbox Game Studios subsidiary, Xbox head Phil Spencer explained his excitement to get involved with the developer in the coming future.

Additionally, The Evil Within appears to not be completely finished with. While The Evil Within 2 is starting to age, a sequel is possibly on the horizon. In a recent update for the game’s trademark, it shares the IP was updated for “continued use.” You can read the full report by heading here.
