Reflecting back to E3 in June of last year, Ubisoft alongside developer Massive Entertainment disclosed a new roadmap of content for the currently ongoing The Division 2. Dividing new additional add-ons through selective ‘Episodes’ offering new experience that allow the player to explore beyond the confines of Washington D.C.
First it was on the outskirts of District Columbia that agents endured their debut journey into the world of the March-released entry – then following with the arrival of Episode 2 as players take on the Pentagon now inhabited with Black Tusk soldiers for an even grimmer plan for the nation’s future. Now this week, it was announced that Division agents will be returning to Manhattan with the upcoming Episode 3 and expansion ‘Warlords of New York’.
Episode 3 alike previous entries will introduce a new area to explore, Coney Island. Offering two new missions for players to take on will be the introductory segment leading to the upcoming expansion early next month. What this return to New York City offers will provide a new story arc in pursuit of rogue agent Aaron Keener. However, you must first take out his hierarch of followers divided between the four districts of Lower Manhattan.
When Warlords of New York arrives, Massive Entertainment tells that players can expect an level cap increase from 30 to now 40. Even more, enemies in this new region will now scale to your rank rather than differentiating in categories divided throughout the map. Including five main missions and eight side missions, there new journey is more unique the second time around. One noteworthy mention is that players who decide to traverse to the Big Apple cannot return to D.C. until finishing the initial DLC campaign.
This wouldn’t be an update without new featured skills right? Here are the added skills that agents can test out in Manhattan:
- Echo-based Hologram Decoys – Deploying the tech will erect a holographic agent which will distract attacking foes to the image to help you collect yourself when in combat.
- Explosive Sticky Bombs – Propelled by a handheld launcher, you can shoot these devices on enemies and objects which can be detonated at anytime.
- Fire Spreading Sticky Bombs – Alike its explosive relative, you can launch these devices on enemies or their surrounding and light then in a burning blaze.
- Shock Trap – Given from the name, you can set these devices to partially stun enemies to get a better strategic point in battle or utilize in a surprise ambush.
This approaching expansion will also revamp the game’s UI to help assist players understanding the loot they collect and even portray stats predominantly to institute what are worth equipping. The team will also introduce Seasons with the upcoming expansion: once achieving level 40 will unlock the new player activity which includes its own ranks and unlockables for players to earn when progressing. Each season is said to run for the same-named duration of 12 weeks.
Massive Entertainment will also debut the SHD Level system which will overtake the current Field Proficiency Cache system for all agents. Alike for seasons, players who reach max rank will then be met with this new initiative which will spawn this infinite progress retainer that will work towards bettering characteristics of your player and weapons.
